And now, some thoughts from Larrimor’s stylist Caitlin Devlin on her tour of the Atelier Munro studio in Amsterdam:
Standards for quality:
Munro prides itself on attention to the finest detail, the finest fabrics, and quality construction. Atelier comes from the French word meaning crafted or cutting of a pattern. One of the founders actually came from a family of pattern makers, 4th generation. There were photos of the original scissors that the pattern maker used all through out the offices to remind everyone of how the company came to be.
This is a photo of one of the design studios where fabrics are chosen for each upcoming season. All Munro fabrics begin at a 110 thread count where most common suits such as Hugo Boss begin at an 80 thread count. Even the starting price point of fabrics come from the Marazato Mill which begins at 110.
What makes Atelier Munro unique:
Munro has a great concept in that they pride themselves on only producing what the customer wants. In doing business this way Munro hopes to eliminate waste and “fast fashion.” They want to create lasting looks for their customers with as much or as little customization as needed/wanted.
Munro also uses only the finest fabrics from different mills and also have the ability to use fabrics from different collections/designers such as Zenga.
What is Munro most focused on as a company?
I feel that Munro’s biggest focus is servicing the customer and creating a one of a kind experience. By working side by side with the customer you are able to really educate and walk the customer through every step of the process.
Munro focuses on offering the best product they can at an accessible price point. You are able to customize as much or as little as you’d like, the ball is in the customer’s court. If they are the type of person that wants to be in control of each decision Munro offers that option to them. On the other hand we are their stylist, so we are able to guide in the direction of what they are used to and what they may like, without bothering them with little details. We are the experts, and I feel that’s what Munro preaches.
